Gardens

The gardens are spread over 27 acres of woodland and disused quarries. The sandy soil provides the perfect setting for the many varieties of heathers and rhododendrons around the informal beds.

Following the devastating hurricane in 1987 the garden changed. Fallen trees and debris were cleared away, opening up new vistas and ideas. Sculptures were carefully positioned throughout, and are now very much part of the delight of the garden.

The setting is dramatic, sitting high above three disused sand quarries, enjoying superb views across the Amberley Wild Brooks, up to the South Downs.

Visiting groups of 10+ are welcome, by arrangement, between March and August.

Please also refer to the National Gardens Scheme website for open days
